History of Lake Templene

Lake Templene was created in 1970. Entrepreneur and developer Floyd Templin purchased farm ground around the Prairie River and Sauger, Sylvan and Camel Lakes. The dam was built and the area was flooded. The end result is beautiful Lake Templene. Currently there are approximately 400 homes built around the lake. Homeowners enjoy scenic views, quiet nature, great fishing and exciting water sports.

The addition of Island Hills Golf Club, a top 25 rated championship golf course, designed by
Ray Hearn combined with a 1000 acre all sport lake created a vacationers dream come true.
